The Green Sour Cherry Plum tree originated in southern China along the banks of the Yangtze River. In the wild, it is a mountain plant. It grows at elevations up to 10,200 feet If eaten while small and green, the fruit is often seasoned with salt to bring out its sour flavor and crunch. The fruit can also be left on the tree to ripen as small, soft, sweet and juicy plums. The Green Sour Cherry Plum tree is an easy to grow plum tree that needs full sun, adequate water and well drained/sandy soil. (USDA Zones 5-9)
